Government Shutdown

NCN has created a one-pager you can use to help nonprofits understand how to prepare for and respond to a government shutdown. The one-pager also includes a checklist for nonprofits that receive federal grants.

Office of the Attorney General

• Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s office has published a Federal Accountability Dashboard, which measures the office’s response to the ongoing actions of the federal administration, highlights the harm caused by their attacks, and uplifts the voices of affected Massachusetts residents.
• Federal Action Story Collection Form – This reporting portal is for Massachusetts residents to archive stories detailing how they’ve been affected by the administration’s actions.
• This list of nonprofit resources offers guidance in the midst of ongoing challenges.

LGBTQ+

• GLAD Law Answers intake form and hotline for free and confidential legal information, assistance, and referrals for LGBTQ+ people and families.

• The state’s department of Labor and Workforce Development unveiled a tool meant to help laid-off federal workers from Massachusetts find jobs. The website lists resources for veterans, training opportunities, and methods to search for careers in both the public and private sectors. More than 46,000 residents work for the federal government, according to Governor Maura Healey’s office.

Opportunities to Get Involved

Speak Up to Oppose the Save Act!

Utilize Nonprofit Vote’s sample messaging to let your Senators know that you oppose the Save Act, which effectively ends all nonprofit-led voter registration drives, ends online and mail-in registration by forcing voters to go in-person to election offices, and disenfranchises tens of millions of eligible voters who either don’t have ready access to birth certificates or passports, or can’t easily get to an actual elections office. The bill passed the House on April 10 and is currently in the Senate.
