What We Do
MCN's advocacy efforts focus on policy issues that affect nonprofits across the state. Our Public Policy Forums bring government leaders and MCN members together for candid conversations about issues impacting the sector. Our ongoing advocacy work seeks to strengthen nonprofit and government partnerships, ensure fair tax policy and accountability, support innovation and talent, and increase philanthropy, volunteerism, and civic engagement.
MCN offers a variety of networking, professional development, and speaker events throughout the year. Our largest event is the Annual Conference, which brings together over 600 Massachusetts nonprofit and business leaders. We regularly partner with other organizations to present affinity groups, lunch & learns, regional meetings, webinars, and other opportunities to share best practices.
MCN provides numerous resources to help you best serve your constituents. We send four newsletters each month, providing the latest sector news, policy updates, funding opportunities, and more. Our member portal contains a curated list of grant opportunities, as well as a Funding Sources Directory. MCN affiliate members can share posts to our Nonprofit 411 blog, and offer cost savings benefits to help our nonprofit members save money.
MCN strives to spread awareness of issues impacting the sector. As part of our effort to mobilize and strengthen nonprofits in the face of federal threats, we launched Federal Impacts Surveys in partnership with The Boston Foundation and the MassINC Polling Group. These surveys helped capture the impact of the current administration's disruptive federal policy actions on nonprofits, and were completed by almost 1,000 nonprofit leaders.
